How do I add, edit and remove Actions within text elements?

In addition to being able to add Actions to whole text elements, you can also add them to portions of text within the element. The portion of text with applied Actions will appear underlined and in color, and if the Action is applied to empty spaces, those spaces are indicated by an underline. If you choose to copy a text element with Actions, you have the option of pasting the text element with or without the Actions intact (for more information access How do I copy and paste with Actions).

To add Actions within text elements:

  1. Open the text element for editing by double clicking the element.
  2. Select the portion of text for which you wish to add an Action.
  3. Select Actions from the Interactions tab on the Authoring Tool Ribbon.
  4. The Element Interactions right fly-out will appear. Select Add and choose the action you would like to apply to the portion of text.
  5. Once you’ve set the specifications for your chosen action, select Apply.
  6. Select Preview to test the new action. If you are satisfied with the action, close the Preview window, and select Done to save your changes.

To edit an Action within a text element:

  1. Select the Actions tab from the panel to the left of the stage.
  2. Expand the Text Link Actions by clicking the arrow, double-click the action you wish to edit. This opens the Element Interactions right fly-out where you can make your changes, and select Apply.
  3. Select Preview to test the edited action. If you are satisfied with the action, close the Preview window, and select Done to save your changes.

To delete an Action within a text element:

  1. Select the Actions tab from the panel to the left of the stage.
  2. Expand the Text Link Actions by clicking the arrow, select the action you wish to delete, and choose the Delete selected item button from the top of the panel.
  3. The system will provide the prompt: Are you sure you want to delete the selected action? Select Yes to confirm deletion.
