My Course is Complete in my LMS even though the test was failed - SCORM 2004

SCORM 2004 sends two statuses to the LMS, Completion and Success.  For Claro courses that have content and a test it will take advantage of both these statuses. Thus a user can finish the course, fail the test and receive a "Completion Status and a Failed Success Status".

Example 1: Publish your course with the settings of allow 5 retest attempts.

  • User takes the course one time and fails the test.
  • Result: Completion Status = Incomplete; Success Status = Unknown
  • User takes the course a second time and passes the test
  • Result: Completion Status = Completed; Success Status = Passed
  • OR User takes the course 4 more times and fails the test each time
  • Result: Completion Status = Completed; Success Status = Failed

Example 2: Publish your course with the settings of unlimited retest attempts.

  • User takes and completes the course content and then takes the test one time and fails the test.
  • Result: Completion Status = Completed; Success Status = Failed
  • User takes the course a second time and passes the test
  • Result: Completion Status = Completed; Success Status = Passed

If your LMS only looks to the Completion Status value, you may want to use the SCORM 1.2 option for publishing as these two status are not broken out and are instead combined. The result is Completed status is not reached until content is completed AND the test is passed.
