How do I create a new standard online or mobile course?

There are a number of different ways to create a new course in Claro. There are also different player layouts you can choose and other choices for course properties.

Course properties:

When you make a new course you need to give it a Name. This is a required field whereas all the following fields are optional:

  1. Select Dimensions:
    1. Standard (1010 wide × 600 high). This the default.
    2. Smartphone (device width: commonly 320 wide x 480 high).
  2. Choose a Player Layout:
    1. Navigation bar at the top and bottom (ideal for desktop delivery)
    2. Navigation bar at the top (recommended for mobile touch). This is the default..
    3. No navigation bar
  3. Enter a Duration in Minutes, Hours, or Days.
  4. Select an Entry, Intermediate, or Advanced Level.
  5. Enter a Prerequisite, if required.
  6. Choose a Language from the options.
Note: English - US is selected by default. If you would like a different language to be selected by default when creating new courses, please contact your site admin to request the change.
  7. Select Type classification such as Activity/Exercise, Assessment, Course, Experience, Job Aid, Presentation, Scenario, and Simulation. "Course" is the default.
  8. Select a Category and Project classification if an Administrator has added these options. As an administrator, you can click the + (Add) button to enter a new classification.
  9. Add a Description. The description is something the learner sees, so make it descriptive and enticing.
  10. Select a Course Theme to style your course. Text placeholders and default colors used for shapes and charts are styled to match the theme.
