I'm really struggling with the translations process. How do you create translated versions of a project?

I've followed the instructions ->

duplicate for translations

exported XML file

Translated XML file

Imported

BUT nothing get translated?

You need to select a language for the duplicated project. And then when you get the excel file add the translated text into the translation column. Save that edited excel spreadsheet and Import it into dominKnow. When you select the import feature it will find the correct project that the excel spreadsheet belongs too.

Thanks Brent however I have a few problems here.

The only file i can get my project to export into is XML. I sat for nearly 1 hour waiting for the program to export the text into Excel, more than once, and nothing ever happened.

When I add translations to the XML and load it into the program nothing changes, I still see the text in English and if I try again the system tells me a file was already loaded..

The only thing I can think of is that you may not be viewing the duplicated project in the new language but the original project that started in english.  If that is not the case you may need to submit a ticket to support.

Can you please walk me through how to prepare the project for a translation please, I thought I was doing this correctly but I may not even be doing the first steps correctly.

Thanks

In the XML file you will see sections like this < TEXT > - < / TEXT > -< TRANSLATION > -< ![CDATA[]] > < /TRANSLATION > What you need to do is put the translation in the 2nd section and leave the original as is. (Make sure you include any HTML tags you see from the original.)

Based on your comments I suspect you are changing the original and if you do that you won't see any changes.

re: the Excel export  - please submit a ticket to support at support@dominknow.com and they can help resolve that for you. Be sure to include the dominKnow ONE URL/site you are logging into as well as the name and course ID you are attempting to export.

I recommend you send a ticket into support@dominknow.com. They can then help you and also see into your site if you permit them.
