Why Won't My Mobile Device Automatically Play Audio Or Video, Even When I Set To Autoplay?

Most mobile devices (including the iPad and iPhone) prevent audio or video files from automatically playing. As stated on Apple's "Safari HTML5 Audio and Video Guide iOS Specific Considerations" page: 

In Safari on iOS (for all devices, including iPad), where the user may be on a cellular network and be charged per data unit, preload and autoplay are disabled. No data is loaded until the user initiates it. 

With dominKnow One, we have been able to work around this to some extent. Audio set to narration will autoplay, except on the first page or any jump page (page jumped to using Page Link or the Menu). 

You can have ONE audio OR video file auto play on a page if you set it to Autoplay. 

Double click the item. The Settings ribbon tool bar displays. Click the Autoplay button. 

Auto play will not work if you use the animation effect on page load for the audio or video file to play after X seconds, where X is greater than 0. (0 does work, but we recommend the Autoplay setting instead). 

A "Press anywhere to continue" screen will appear when an element autoplays and with the following conditions: 

When first opening a course. 

If you use the Link to Page option. 

Auto play will ONLY work if the page is accessed in one of the following ways: 

The page automatically advances to the next page (based on a user-initiated action, such as a click/touch/rollover) 

The user clicks the next or back button. 

You add an element Action that uses the Player Controls "Go to the next page".
