Why are my pages locking automatically when importing a powerpoint
6151 0 1It seems as if recently, whenever i upload a powerpoint to create a project, it automatically locks each page and says I am editing each page so no one can get in and collaborate on the project. The fix for this is to go into options and allow others to edit, but im curious as to why the pages are auto locking now?

Hello. This is not a recent change. When you import PowerPoint the importer is "creating" pages for each slide in the PPT. As you are the user creating the pages, it works just like when you create a page from within dominKnow | ONE, in that the page is checked out to you so you can edit and change the pages.
When you are logged in, no other user can work on any page in any project until either you "allow others to edit" as you noted OR you log out of the system.
If you allow others to edit a page, they can then immediately check out the page. (Though they may need to click on the blue arrows above the project tree to refresh its state.)
If you are not logged into the system, then when they attempt to check out the page, it will say it is locked, but it will give them an option to force checkout and override the lock. I suspect in past cases this is what happened and thus your colleagues could work on it and you didn't need to take the step to check the content in.
If you are logged in, they will not get the option to override the checkout. I suspect that this is what happened recently, and why your colleague was seeing the page locked.
Of note, if you want to allow others to edit, you can select the course or module icon and then choose the allow others to edit option from the project tree menu and it will check in all pages in the project or in that specific module.
