Our Capture 2.1.4 feature update is now available for both Windows and Mac users.
It includes some new helpful features plus a new application update process.
The process for updating the Capture application has changed.
Previously, for authors who have permission to install applications on their computer or have IT-managed installations that allowed automatic updating, the Capture application would check for updates to the application and automatically install the updated application if available.
Now, Capture will still check for updates but authors will need to choose to download and install the updated application.
With this process change, Authors will now see a new dialog box when an update is available.
The Capture Preferences panel also includes a checkbox setting to allow Authors to control if they want Capture to automatically check for updates.
A new set of Modify features have been added to the top tool bar area.
When selected, it shows a new set of tools (as shown in this image).
The first options allows you to add a colored rectangle to the step. This can be used to mask out portions of the screen capture for the step, for example.
The next two options help you set the color for the rectangle. You can choose from the preset color palette or use the eye-dropper tool to select a specific color from the screen capture image.
You can also add Text to the step or an image (this was previously available under the Draw tools).
Items added under the Modify tool set are shown to the learner in any mode of the capture lesson. (Items under the Draw tool set are only shown in Show Me and Guide Me modes.)
When you Share (publish) the Capture lesson, there is an option on the Publish for Authoring settings page called, Make "Modify" Changes Permanent.
When selected, this will:
A new Project Map feature has been added on the side panel.
Selecting this opens a display panel showing the Project's Scenes and their respective steps plus any branching or alternative paths between them, for example if a secondary hotspot is added to a step that takes the learner to a different Scene.
You can select a Scene or Step on the map and be taken to it on the side panel and authoring stage area.
The experience of accessing and using the Hotspots for Step panel has been improved.
It will now open if you double-click a hotspot or select a related option.
Also, if you select a hotspot on the step screen, it will be highlighted on the panel.
If the panel is open, you can scroll horizontally to work with areas of the screen step image underneath the panel.
The panel's display and formatting have also been improved.
