The Tutorial Theme is designed to automatically create a menu page for your learners and enable free flow navigation. If you are looking to create this style of navigation we recommend you try the Tutorial Theme and see if meets your needs. For more information visit the Tutorial Theme Overview.

However, you may be wishing to create your own custom menu design. Good news is dominKnow | ONE enables you to create just about any variation you would like. However, to help you along, we have created a template project Custom Menu Example which you can download from the Marketplace to get an easy start.

Creating the Menu Page

The basic menu page typically requires the following elements:

  • Menu buttons that branch to the first page in that section.
  • Completion icons that appear once a user has completed a given section.
  • A "Done" button that lets the user know they are done and/or moves to a final summary page.
    • This button will stay hidden until all sections linked by the menu are complete

To enable the function of this menu you will need to utilize variables and conditions.

Setting Section Completion Indicators

For each section you need to add an action to set the corresponding section variable to true, which will tell the project that the learner has completed that section. In our example we are using the Page Completed trigger on the last page to not enable the return to menu option until all activities on that page have been completed. This additional step is not required, but depending on your project design may be desired.

In the example we have added three pages for each section. In the the first two pages the user must select next. In the last page, the user must select the show image button to reveal the image. Once the image is revealed the page will be complete and this will trigger showing the continue/return to menu image option and set the section variable to true
