dominKnow | ONE storage is pretty generous but sometimes you need to delete files altogether from the Media Library.
Easily delete individual or multiple files
Deleting an individual file
You can only delete files that are not used in projects.
To confirm if a file is used then delete it:
- Select the file
- On the right-side panel select Usage
- If the file is not used, select Actions
- Select Delete
If the file is used in Projects you will need to go to the page(s) using it and delete it from those pages then return to the Media Library to delete it from the library altogether.
Deleting multiple files
You can select multiple files to delete when viewing the file display in Thumbnail view by using CTRL+Select on Windows or COMMAND+Select on Mac.
You'll probably find it easier, though, to switch the file display to List view, to make it simpler to select files and to reduce scrolling.
To delete multiple files this way:
- Select the List view icon
- Select the checkboxes beside the files you wish to delete
- Select Actions
- Select Delete
Finding unused files
In order to delete multiple files, you need to know that they're all unused.
To do this you can create a Custom filter:
- At the bottom of the filters list is an option, Custom. Select the pencil icon to create a custom filter.
- On the Advanced Filters panel is a field, Usage. In its drop down select Not in use.
- Give the custom filter a name.
- Select Apply.
NOTE: These steps create a "simple" filter that will search across all content to identify unused files. You can also use any of the other Advanced Filter fields to create more-focused searches, such as searching within a specific date range.
After you click Apply, the search results will be shown.
And the Custom filter will now be added at the top of the Filters list, available to use any time you need it.
The i icon opens and closes the filter's information display.
You can use the pencil icon to edit the filter, or the X to delete it.
