Easily add images to help communicate better or as visual design elements

When editing a text element, you can insert an image inline (within the text element) by selecting the Image icon on the mini-text editing toolbar.

You can then choose where you want to insert the image from:

  • Insert opens the Media Browser so you can select an image you’ve uploaded previously or upload a new image
  • People opens the People Browser so you can select an image
  • Libraries opens the Stock Media panel so you can choose on image form the available stock images
  • Clipart opens the clip art library

You can also insert images inline by:

  • Right-clicking when editing within the text element. On the menu that appears, choose Insert Image then choose from Media Browser, People Library, Stock Library or Clipart
  • Selecting Image on the Insert tab to open the Media Browser
  • Selecting Library on the Insert tab to choose from the People, Stock Image or Clipart libraries

Once the image is added in the text element, you can double-click it to open the Image Properties panel where you can:

  • Add Alternative (alt) text
  • Set a display width and height
  • Set a border by entering a numeric value for the thickness
  • Set horizontal spacing around the image by entering a numeric value
  • Set the vertical spacing around the image by entering a numeric value
  • Choose an alignment option:
    • Not set leaves the image at the location where you inserted it
    • Align left will force-set the image to be at the left edge of the text element
    • Align right will force-set the image to be at the right edge of the text element

Select OK to save your changes.

Theme Settings for Images in Text Elements

The Theme Designer’s Styles tab has settings that let you set standard behaviors for images added inline within a text element.

The Constrain size feature is off by default. If you select the Constrain size checkbox you can set:

  • How many lines of text the image height will be
  • What aspect ratio the image will display at. Natural leaves the image as-is, Square, Standard (4:3) and Widescreen (16:9) all mask the outside edges of the image.

The Enable Click to Zoom feature is off by default. Selecting the checkbox will allow learners to click on the image to see a full size version.

The Spacing dropdown lets you set how much padding will be added around the image. The choices are Default (no padding added), Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large.
