Previewing A Project as You Work

You can access the preview options from the Preview quick link in the upper left area of the interface.

The options are:

• Current Page
• Full Project
• Compare (Flow only)
• On Device
• Document

The View tab also provides access to these same options, plus a Parent Page preview for pages that have been copied from another project.

Current Page Preview gives you a content-aware preview of the page in a new window.

You can leave the Current Page preview browser open as you work on your page. As you make changes, the Current Page Preview browser is alerted and will display a refresh bar so you can see the changes. This saves the time and repetition of opening the Current Page Preview every time you want to see your changes.

Current Page Preview loads only data and information about the current page. It won't load system variables for the Learning Object, Module or Project, for example.

This preview does not display the theme navigation bars.

The preview has a tool bar at the top of the page:

• In Flow projects you can select a breakpoint or choose custom display dimensions.
• If there are Audience (Publish) Targets set on the page the tool bar will show an Audience drop down list for you to choose an Audience target.
• If there are multiple languages in the project the tool bar will show a language drop down list for you to choose a language.

The Console button opens the console, which tracks actions and other events that have been fired on the page.

You can select an event on the Console and see the related element highlighted in a dashed red box in the preview browser.

Back on the dominKnow | ONE authoring stage you can select elements and see them highlighted in the preview.

You can also use the refresh arrows on the Console button to reload the current page preview.

Full Project Preview opens the full project including navigation in a new browser window.

You can use it to view the full project just as it will behave for learners when published, including test questions.

The behavior of the Full Project Preview is set by the Publishing Profile assigned to the Project. For example, if the profile has pre-testing turned on then you'll see pre-testing as part of the Full Project Preview.   

The preview has a tool bar at the top of the page:

• In Flow projects you can select a breakpoint or choose custom display dimensions.
• If there are Audience (Publish) Targets set for the project the tool bar will show an Audience drop down list for you to choose an Audience target.
• If there are multiple languages in the project the tool bar will show a language drop down list for you to choose a language.
• The Comments button opens the Comments panel to show any comments added to the page you are on plus add page comments of your own.
• Question Details is available when you are on a test question page. It opens a full answer key for the question.
• Switching the Tab Focus toggle highlights all the on-page elements that will be included for a keyboard navigator or screen reader user navigating through the page.
• When the Inline Comments toggle is switched on you can roll over elements on the page to see options to view existing comments made on the element, view the elements accessibility information and add an inline comment on the element yourself.

Compare Preview is only available for Flow projects.

It allows you to preview the entire project in two display sizes side by side.

The preview has a tool bar at the top of the page:

• In Flow projects you can select a breakpoint or choose custom display dimensions for each side of the preview
• If there are Audience (Publish) Targets set on the page the tool bar will show an Audience drop down list for you to choose an Audience target for each side of the preview
  
• If there are multiple languages in the project the tool bar will show a language drop down list for you to choose a language for each side of the preview. This can help authors compare two languages in a project that has multiple languages

The On Device option displays a QR code to preview the project on your mobile device.

Point your mobile device's camera at the QR code to open the project on your device.

You can also email the link to your device, or browse to the project using the URL.

Document Preview allows you to preview the current page of the project in a PDF document format in a new window.

In addition to the current page you will also see the title page, table of contents, as well as any glossary, bibliography, or test questions associated with the same learning object.
