The Publish Targets feature allows you to create learner-audience specific contexts and apply them to:
- Content elements on the page
- Pages
- Test Question Pages
- Learning Objects
- Modules
When you publish the Project you can use the targets to set what content is included for a specific learning audience or context.
This feature allows you to create one project that can be published to target different learner audiences.
There are two types of Publish Targets:
- Language targets
- Audience (or custom) targets
Language Targets
Language targets are automatically available based on the languages that a Project has available, for example in a Project that has been translated into several languages within a single Project.
Since these are automatically available, there is no need to set the target sup.
Audience (or Custom) Targets
Your organization can set up custom targets to reflect different audiences or learning contexts.
For example, a Project can have some Pages identified for Managers and some Pages identified for Employees. When you publish, you can publish the Manager version first then publish the Employee version. They can even be set to use different Themes and Publishing Profiles. Both published versions are stored and tracked separately to make it easier to republish later.
Or, you can have targets for Elearning content and Knowledge Base content. A title page, for example, could be Elearning content, not expected or needed in a Knowledge Base. When you publish the content you can then include only the relevant content for each learning context.
