Get Flow Layout Suggestions From Our New Design Assistant

New on-stage tools let you easily set layout designs for Flow content.

The Design Assistant opens to the right of the Stage when you:

  • Select a Row in either the breadcrumb above the stage or on the Page Structure Panel
  • Use the checkboxes to select more than one Group
  • Use the checkboxes to select more than one Element

The Design Assistant makes it easy to try out different layout options with the safety of quickly reverting back to where you started.

Quickly Adjust Flow Layouts on the Stage With New Sizing Handles for Elements and Groups

Groups and Elements now have handles on their left and right sides to help you quickly set their width within a layout.

Selecting the handle between two adjacent Groups adjusts the layout of both Groups at the same time making it easy to keep their horizontal relationship.

Re-order Flow Page Content With Drag and Drop on the Page Structure Panel

Now you can re-order and rearrange content on Flow pages quickly by drag and drop on the Page Structure panel.

This new feature lets you easily:

  • Rearrange Element, Group, Row and Section order
  • Move Elements into different Groups, Groups into different Rows, Rows into different Sections
  • Move tabs from one tab set to another or slides from one carousel to another
  • Move content layered over an image to another image

As you drag, the Page Structure panel intelligently identifies locations where you can drop your content.

Easily Add Rows to a Section

Building your own custom Sections is now easier.

Whenever you're working in a Section, the Add a Row bar is always available.

It's available if you have an Element, Group, Row or the Section selected.

Quickly add Rows with different layouts to design the Section you need with just a few clicks.

Copy and Paste Elements with Most Actions in Flow

Flow now supports copying and pasting elements and preserving most actions for which the element is a trigger as part of the copy/paste.

The exception is for actions that target other elements on the page, such as Show, Hide or media player actions.

This is because the structure of Flow pages is different than Claro pages. Flow pages are built as a framework of containers and this more-complex structure means the copy/paste process can’t apply to multiple individual elements.

Allow Learners to Review and Change Test Question Responses Before Submitting

COMING IN A NEAR-FUTURE UPDATE

New settings in the Publishing Profile and Theme allow authors to set and control a new assessment behavior that allows learners to review and change their question responses before submitting.

Instead of immediately recording each response as it is submitted the new feature holds all responses until the learner is ready to submit them collectively.

A new Assessment Menu tracks that learners have provided responses for each question and allows them to review any and all questions before choosing to submit them.

Set ARIA Role for Elements

The Accessibility panel below the stage now features settings for ARIA Attributes for use in cases where an element is being used for something other than its standard element type.

For example, you might have an image with actions on it that functions as a button, or a text element that is a link to a document.

Setting a non-default ARIA Role will help screen reader users better understand what they are about to experience.

You can also set the element's Hidden status.

Speed Controls for Audio and Video Elements

The control bars for audio files and uploaded video files now include a speed control for playback rate.

This allows learners to choose how fast or slow they wish to view the media file.

This also supports WCAG and accessibility expectations for audio and video files.

XML Localization Interchange File Format (XLIFF) Translation Support

We've added the ability export translation files as XLIFF as part of dominKnow | ONE's translation workflows.

The XML Localization Interchange File Format will make it even easier to work with translation tools including AI-based services.

New "Mark Assessment Passed" Player Control Action

The new Mark Assessment Passed player control action lets authors set up content actions that can mark the Learner as Passed for a course's assessment.

This can be triggered from any page in a course, whether it's a test question or not.

Set Themes as Recommended

When saving a theme, there is now an option to set the Theme as Recommended.

Themes that have been set as Recommended will be shown to authors making a new Custom project on the Recommended themes tab.

You can update existing themes to be Recommended just by resaving them and selecting the new setting.

Improved Workflow for Creating New Projects

The workflows for creating a new Project have been updated to make them simpler to understand and get started.

Improved Interface for Working with Variables in Text Elements

A new Variable Finder interface makes it easier to find and select system and Custom variables for adding into text elements.

It includes search and filtering options to help you find what you are looking for.

Target Sub-elements in Engage Elements with Actions

Sub-elements within Tab Sets, Content Carousels, Panels, Call outs and other Engage elements can now be targeted with actions.

This makes it easy to add new custom interactions to these types of component elements, to help you create better learning engagement and better learning experiences.

Improved Workflow for Add Page in a Light Box (Target Page) Interactions

The right-side Element Interactions panel for Show Page in a Light Box actions has been revised to make it easier to understand and work with.

Instead of showing a list of all existing pages and target pages in the current project, a new Add Page drop down lets the author choose to:

  • Create a new target Page
  • Show an existing Page or Target Page
  • Copy a Page from another Project

If the Page from another Project is a Target Page, it can be Shared to be synchronized for changes and updates across Projects.

Accessibility Improvements for Multiple Pulldown Question Elements (Engage Questions)

Multiple Pulldown Quiz Elements are now accessible to keyboard and screen reader users.

These can be added to your Page from the Engage tab's Quizzes and Exercises menu.

NOTE: The Engage tab's Quizzes and Exercise elements are for non-scored learning activities. They do not send a score to the LMS and are not included as part of test results to the LMS.

Clearer Resizing Indicators for the Left-side Panel, the Panel Below the Stage and On-page Width Control in Flow

The left-side panel (for Project, Page, Actions and Recycle Bin functions) and the panel below the Stage (for Page Notes, Page Transcript, Element States, Timeline and Accessibility features) now feature a drag bar to make it easier to understand that their width or height can be adjusted.

Plus, when working on a Flow page the draggable width indicator is now also easier to notice and use.
