Quickly understand where a Custom Variable is used throughout your Project including what actions set it, where it is used as a Condition for an action and where it is displayed in a text field

The Manage Project Variables panel helps you quickly understand how custom variables are used in your Project.

You can access it from the Home Tab by selecting Manage Variables.

The Manage Project Variables panel lists all custom variables used in the Project, and displays their Type and Availability.

There are three Availability options:

  • Global - A custom variable created for use in any Project in your dominKnow | ONE site. These are created by Administrators but can be used by all authors.
  • Project - A custom variable created for use in the Project you are currently editing.
  • Page - A custom variable created for use on only one specific page in a Project.

If you select a variable, you can view its Details, including name, description, availability, type and its initial value.

You can also see data for:

  • All Usage - Its total usage across all pages in the Project
  • Set By - Instances where its value is being set by an action
  • Checked By - Instances where it is used or checked in a Condition field on an action.
  • Used By - Instances where its value is displayed in a text element.

Selecting one of the numbers, such as the 4 beside All Usage in this example, opens up the usage details.

The details panel shows a card for each usage.

The card header shows the Module > Learning Object > Page > and Element related to a specific use of the variable.

The card then lists:

  • Value - The Value being set by the action, in this case adding 1 to the value.
  • Triggered by - The trigger element for the action.

You can also view the usage broken down by category by selecting;ecting the Set by, Checked by or Used by tabs on the panel.
