Add fun special effects text using Plain Text Elements

On the Add To Your Page panel is an option to add a Plain Text element to your Claro page or a Plain Text element in a new section on a Flow page.

The Plain Text option is also available on the Insert tab of the Ribbon.

A Plain Text element is different than other Text elements because it can have unique entrance effects applied to it. These effects act at the individual letter level of the element content, such as a Typing effect where each letter appears in sequence.

Because of these effects, a Plain Text element can't support other features for text elements like inline formatting (bold, italic, underline, etc.), inline images, glossary terms, tooltips, etc.

Plain Text elements are great for drawing the learner’s eye or adding more visual design interest to a Page.

When you select a Plain Text element three Context Tabs are available:

  • Options
  • Style
  • FX

On the Options tab you can choose a Text Type:

On the Style Tab you can set a text color for the whole element:

On the FX tab in Claro you can set one of:

  • An Entrance Effect (including Time and Direction)
  • A Text Effect. The Text effects are unique to Plain Text elements.
  • An Advanced Entrance Effect using the Properties option.

You can't combine entrance effects and text effects, you can set the element for one or the other.

The FX tab in Claro also provides access to the Timeline panel below the Stage.

On the FX tab in Flow you can set either:

  • An Entrance effect (including and Direction)
  • Or a Text Effect. The Text effects are unique to Plain Text elements.
  • Or a Scroll Effect. These are effects you can apply to your element that are triggered when the element enters the viewport and again as it exits the viewport as the learner scrolls down the page.

All of these effects are triggered by the element's appearance on the page as the learner scrolls.
