Using a Variable to Show a Label within a Video

Scenario:

We're using a single in-line text input field with an associated variable (per screen) instead of the standard Short Essay question template (we have reasons for not being able to use the template, mostly to do with being unable to disable the default template pop-ups)

Seems like it should be quite simple but when the menu for "show" displays, the elements are rows and rich text. The icons I put on the graphic are not visible to select as trigger targets. Is there another method? (Markers do not work in my classroom environment.)

I was wondering if it was possible to add a video file into a Timeline panel. I noticed that there was only the option for embedded videos. Is that the only option?
