There definitely is a way to do this, and there are two parts to follow/know about.

First, by default if you upload an image that has a width or height (or both) greater than 1200 pixels, the image will be reduced in size down to 1200 pixels in the larger dimension (aspect ratio is preserved). For some image uses, such as background images on sections or pages, you may need an image to have a width or height greater than 1200 pixels. In these cases, the only way to upload the image without having it reduced in size is to use the Upload High Res option in the left-side panel of the Media Library. (The system does this to help prevent authors from using images that are way bigger than most prqactical application in the tool, which would cause bandwidth/download issues for learners.)

Second is a setting for Flow projects called Max Width, available on the Project Properties panel. By default for new Flow projects this is set to 1200 pixels (1200 is kind of a magic size in responsive design). This means the page width will only expand to 1200 pixels and if your browser is wider than that you'll see filler space on either side of the page. If you remove the value from that Max Width setting (so, have no value, leave the field blank/empty), then the page width will expand along with the browser with no set limit on its width.

Hope this helps!
