Story View without Home Page Theme

The Story View theme is ideal for traditional eLearning and presentation-style content. This theme is created using the Story View Player experience.

Is there a way to add the list of Resources into the Story View Theme's menu similar to the other Themes. When editing the theme player, I do not see it as an option.
 

If not, is there a way to add a link to the Resources to show the auto-generated list of resources?

We are creating a course with a story view theme. As you know, clicking the menu icon brings up the left panel. We have found that we can complete the course by clicking on the learning object in the left panel even without reading the whole content.
We want to prevent the learner from completing the course by just clicking the left panel without reading the entire content. 
Is there any way to prevent the learner from clikcing the left panel?
