If you are familiar with SCORM, you know that bookmarking information is stored in CMI.Sessions information as a blob of data the course sends and recalls so it can properly bookmark and remember elements of what happened in the course the last time a learner took it.
xAPI does something similar with "State Data".

For where it actually can be seen in your LRS, you'll need to contact your LRS provider as the process for uncovering this data isn't always the same.
