Including captions—or transcripts—of videos is an easy way to enhance eLearning accessibility and make eLearning videos usable to more learners, including those who need to view them without sound. Captioning YouTube videos is easy and a great introduction to do-it-yourself accessibility enhancements. The captioning process adds, essentially, subtitles. With a little extra effort, a developer could create closed captions that also describe ambient sounds and sound effects, providing a better learning experience for learners who are hard of hearing or viewing without audio.
