Bring characters to life and create engaging conversation-based learning experiences

You can add a Speech or Thought Bubble as an element on a page or as an element layered within an Image or Video element.

You can add a Speech Bubble as an Element from the Stock Library section of either the Insert Tab on the Ribbon or the Add to your Page’s All Elements tab.

You can add a Speech Bubble as an element layered over an Image or Video Element by selecting the Image or Video element on the Page then selecting the + icon. This opens the Add Elements on Top panel.

Working with Speech and Thought Bubbles is essentially the same whether you’ve added the Speech Bubble as an element of its own or as an element layer over an image or video element.

Here’s additional information on adding element layers over an Image >> Adding Markers, Hotspots and more as layers on Image Elements

Edit the Text in a Speech Bubble

To Edit the text in the Speech Bubble, select the Edit (Pencil) icon.

Speech Bubble Options tab

On the Options tab you can set the orientation of the bubble or switch from a Speech Bubble to a Thought Bubble or vice versa.

You can also set the Speech bubble to have Rounded corners and turn the Border on or off.

On the Speech Bubble Options tab in Flow you can also set the Minimum and Maximum font sizes.

In Flow, the Speech Bubble's display size is automatically adjusted as the page responds to different breakpoints. As part of this size adjustment, the font display size is also adjusted within the range that you set as an author.

Speech Bubble Style tab

On the Speech Bubble Style tab you can set a fill color for the Speech Bubble.

Speech Bubble Size

The Speech Bubble’s height will increase based on the amount of text you add.

In Claro pages (whether the Speech bubble is an element on the page or is an element layered over an Image or Video element) you can resize the Speech Bubble by dragging the triangle handle in the lower right corner or specify an exact size using the Width and Height fields above the stage.

In Flow Pages, if the Speech bubble is an element layered over an Image or Video element you can adjust the Speech Bubble’s width by selecting the handle on its right edge or you can set a specific size using the Width and Height fields above the stage.

In Flow, if the Speech Bubble is an element of its own on the page you can not set its dimensions. The dimensions will respond automatically as the page responds.
